As far as crappy videos go, this is one of them. I mean, I think the intro was great (did you like Kristine's sick moves?) but I don't think I did a very good job saying what I really needed to say. DUDE can we get a "but" "and" + "um" count?! I swear I'm not as lame in person.

ANYWAYS. Slightly crap video aside, I wold just like to repeat my self by saying: Yes, it's my 2nd bloggiversary, and I am ever so grateful for all the wonderful things I've accomplished, for all the cool + talented people I've had the pleasure to "meet", and of course, for all of my wonderful readers!

Reflecting on these past two years, I think the most rewarding part of it all was my personal growth. I learned so much about photography, fashion and people, but most importantly--myself. It's so cheesy, but true. I'm so much more sure of myself than I was two years ago. Had I taken a different path than the one I'm on today, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to gain the confidence to a) talk to my parents b) quit a terrible job (and be happy about it) and c) walk down any school hallway or street with my head held high. I think it's safe to say I'm more proud of all the things I've overcome myself than any lame academic achievement. Obviously getting good grades are great, but who's going to care later on in life? GRADES ARE JUST ON PAPER. MOVE ON.

I pretty much suck at life for not posting that interview video I promised for yesterday. Feel free to be grumpy at me, I am--I hate breaking promises!

Basically, I tried filming it with my friend Bryce on Sunday, (we had all day) but things were just not working out for us. Batteries dying+memory cards failing+my early as hell curfew+low on energy=NO GOOD!

So instead, I attempted to put together this short "film" to make up for the lack of interview. It's basically what we got accomplished and then some:]

So have you guys met my buddies Philip and Sam? They're the coolest people you'll ever meet, and I was super excited that they agreed to do a photoshoot with me! Seriously, it's not everyday you get to chill with a couple of British bad boys like these fellows. I was honoured to be in their presence, really. Even more so when they (reluctantly) agreed to have a "formal" interview! You can see more of their flamboyant photos HERE.

Exam week may be over, but that doesn't mean there isn't any madness still lingering in the air! Aside from post-exam-trauma and a new semester, there was also this insanity about two weeks ago called the "All You Can Wear" sale over at one of Winnipeg's vintage stores, Ragpickers.

The rule was simple: $20 + 20 minutes + everything you could physically put on yourself, you got to keep. Any idea alluring enough to make perfectly sane people stand in line in outside in -30 deg. Celsius weather and then battle it out for some vintage goodies is fine by me, and so off we went! Try to see if you can find my little cameo ▲▲▲ in this short video of the sale... (hint, I'm the loser with three hats on her head)

But basically, it was the craziest 20 mins of my life, but it was all good fun and I'm sure my buds and I will all be back next year:)

Cole, Wellie, Pip, Maisy and I are now at my parents' for the rest of the week. After packing up the car, driving to Royal Oak, and then unpacking the car, we decided to do a quick shoot at Maxwell park. Also, this coming Tuesday, Cole and I will be seeing The National in concert! Anyone else going to that concert at the Royal Oak Music Theatre?

Ahhh! Unreal is all I can say right now. From the day I got the email asking me to be on the show, to shooting some footage at the nearest Value Village two days ago to arriving at City TV headquarters at 7AM this morning, and finally making an appearance at 7:45AM...it's been quite the memorable experience! I honestly couldn't be any more thankful to Breakfast Television Winnipeg for featuring me as one of their "Amazing Teens" for their Spring Break theme this week. And since appearing on television seems to be a very big deal and therefore calls for a "heartfelt, cheesy moment", I'd also like to thank my supportive friends and family while I'm at it--where would I be without my gorgeous models, doting relatives and friends who were willing to get up early on their day offs to watch me on TV?!

As far being on the show itself, it really just flew by! It was as if some sort of instinctual, fashion auto-mode took over while I was sitting next to BT host Pay Chen, because one minute, we were waiting to go live, and the next, spring trends were just spewing out of my mouth! And then it was over, just like that. Strange, really. However, my fashion auto-pilot somehow forgot to mention where one might find all of these spring-ready items, so here's a breakdown of what we wore on the show:

I thought I'd show you this short video that I took a part in a couple of months ago. I was interviewed about my blog by Mike Choi, the mastermind behind Found Winnipeg--a website showcasing what Winnipeg has to offer "in humanitarianism, innovation and art". It also features a few other videos documenting fascinating stories behind fellow Winnipeg-based individuals.

Filming this was a fun experience for sure, and really, it was an honour to be a part of this project! Mike came along to the photo shoot I did with John + Adrianna  (see here and here) and caught some great bits of behind-the-scenes footage (but mostly of me prancing around in my sequined dress, haha). This is seriously THE moment of truth.

The video that you are about to see is the work of two extremely hardworking people (Bryce and I) who were incredibly willing to put loads of time and effort into the making of this fabulous, (ha, correct me if you must) fabulous film. WE JUST LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH! WOOOOO!

Just to warn you though--as meticulous as we were, the video's still a little bad quality. Crappy digital camera=shitty footage, and bad audio (I suggest turning your volume up at the highest). I think at some point in the video, our mouths start moving at a different time than our voices, so keep that in mind;) Also, we look really grey and drab for some odd reason....

Anyways, I should stop yapping. ENJOY THE VIDEO!

Do you have any siblings?
Yes, one sis, she is twelve yrs. old.

What are your other hobbies?
Well, thanks to this whole video-making experience, filming is my new hobby;)

A fact about you that no one could guess from looking at you?
My real age and real ethnicity? Haha, Im not sure!

Who takes your photos?
My sister used to, but more recently (a few months ago) I do them myself, with a tripod.

How exactly did you wander into fashion and photography?
I've been into fashion since I was really young. I got into photography when I signed up for a graphics class, where I first picked up a DSLR. Who knew I'd be so into it!

How long have you been doing photography for?
About a year. In fact, it's Dave's first birthday in ten days;)

When you’re doing an outdoor photoshoot, do you get bystanders?
Haha, I only get bylookers. I have yet to have anyone stand around while in the middle of a shoot!

What are your career plans after high school?
After HS, I definitely want to move out of Winnipeg and study in Toronto. I haven't chosen a university yet, but I know I want to major in photography, and maybe study fashion design/advertising on the side.

If you couldn’t be what you wanted to be, what else would you be?I've always told people my plan B: Real Estate! Yes, I'm going to be one of those impeccably dressed, power suit-wearing, slightly bitchy realtors selling pricey houses.

Have you ever considered modeling?
Only when you bring it up;) I don't really think I'd ever make it (didn't I mention how short I am?) but hey, if anyone wants to hire me, I'm game!

Are you a make-up artist?
Nope, just a kid with too much time and a penchant for outrageous makeup, heavy brows, and painted eyes.

How the hell do you shape your eyebrows so perfectly? Do you do them yourself?
Yep, I do them myself. I've never had them professionally done in my life! I've had this shape since I was 13 and they've changed quite a bit since then; but basically, when I first started, I took a white eyeliner, traced out an arch, and plucked accordingly. Three years later, and all I have to do is maintain by plucking the strays and grooming with NYC browser. That's it.

How is your skin so perfect? Routines?
Hehe, it's not really! Aside from drinking loads of water and staying away from junkfood, I have a specific routine: cleanse with a not-too-harsh cleanser to get rid of dirt and makeup, exfoliate with baking soda+water (cheap and works great!), medicate pimples with benzoyl peroxide (I swear by this!), moisturize to keep skin from drying out (I like proactive medicated moisturizer as well as Olay), and most importantly, I make sure I wear sunscreen EVERYDAY (I use Neutrogena Dry-touch SPF 45) to prevent sun damage.

What is your hair routine?
Wash, and blowdry. I'm pretty lucky to have obedient hair!

Favourite store? Favourite online shop?
Meh, aside from the local thriftstores and vintage shops, I don't shop anywhere else really. And I most definitely don't shop online!

All time fave accessory you can't live without?
If we're talking all-time, it would have to be my deer/quartz crystal necklace combo!

What are 3 of your favorite things in your closet?
Combat boots, Costa Blanca leather jacket, and vintage Levi cutoff shorts.

If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pink. It's entertaining!

Would you rather: one really gorgeous, expensive pair of shoes or one really gorgeous, expensive bag?
Bag! I can't wear Louboutins to school/in the winter!

Would you rather be in a submarine by yourself for six months or in a rocket ship in space with your best friend for a year?
In space with Bryce:)

What’s your favorite holiday?
This is easy. How can you not love Leif Erichsen Day??!!

Your opinion on toe socks?
LAME! They make your feet colder!

The one thing you literally can't live without?
Air?! that and sunscreen.

Who would you invite, living or dead, to a dinner party?
Uncle Karl Lagerfeld. Haha, except he's not my uncle, and he would never come!

How would you murder someone if you absolutely had to?
AVADA KEDAVRA! Boom, no mess, no fuss--just one little phrase.

For the rest of your life, you much either talk in rhymes or sing broadway style. Which do you choose?
In rhymes, so I could pass them off as a rap!

Would you rather live without the internet or without music?
I would die. If that was for real, just avada kedavra me right now!

What's your favourite snack?
Peanutbutter and banana sandwich on whole wheat bread! With milk, yum:)

So it's that time of the year again, folks! And by "time of the year", I mean it in the most vague way possible...Since my blog birthday just so happens to be on February 29th, a day that only exists once every four years, the celebration of my bloggiversary is really just a general estimate. Mysteries of February 29th aside, Bryce and I now present you with waffles this video. Hope you all enjoy the waffles video as much as we enjoyed eating making it!

And I know it's bad timing to be making a "thank you speech" right now, considering the Oscars were just a couple of days ago, but what the hell, right? Anyway--I'm extremely grateful for another great year in the blogging world! I've met even more amazing and creative individuals through my blog than last year, not to mention, had the pleasure to work with some really great new companies and talented people too--all of which I'm very thankful for! I'd also like to say thanks to all new and long-time the readers of Cheap Thrills. I appreciate all the lovin'--you're the best!
