Can you say "sunflare overload!" Cole and I were a bit off with our sunset timing yesterday. We're not used to it being so sunny and staying bright so late, making us off by a good hour and a half.:o In a way, I like some of the photos since they have a more grainy strangely-exposed film quality. But the perfectionist part of me, that dominates all, really wishes they were more clear.

I've been a really slow blogger this week and haven't been the best with responding to emails and comments. Just know that I'm not purposely being rude. My only excuse is that things have been a bit rough with my thyroid since I stopped the synthroid. The highs and lows are happening so fast that it's making my head spin. I'm hoping once my body adjusts to being off the drugs, it will start to chill out.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Cole was able to fix the water heater issue on Monday. He installed a new something-or-other and then had a plumber come in to fix a broken valve. It wasn't too bad since we high-tailed it to my parents for the weekend, but it's amazing how one day without hot water and I was a mess. I obviously would not survive long in the olden days.

Maria Sig 2

Camp Dear Creatures

Camp Dear Creatures
For two years, I have longed to buy this Dear Creatures' dress. Ever since I saw the Zooey cotton commercial, I knew it had to be mine. Finally, two months ago I lucked out and found one on sale at 80s Purple in my size. I've been holding back and waiting for warmer weather, knowing already how I wanted to style it. While it's still so cold outside, at least all the snow is gone. Fingers crossed, for good.

As you can see, Cole really loves his pipe. He's even been braving the cold weather to smoke it outside. I love it when presents I buy are such a hit!

Spring is preparing for its debut. Today was such a gloriously beautiful day with the sun shining and temperatures in the low 60s. Pretty much all of the snow is gone and let's hope it's the last of the season. Testing my diy skills, I made this floral headband today. What do you think? I took a velvet ribbon, turned it upside down (for friction), glued flower tops to the ribbon, glued a little elastic to the back and voilà! I'm tempted to make some for my shop. Would anyone be interested? And if so, how much would you want to pay?

Cole and I had a visitor while we were shooting. I had to run off the tracks but thankfully Cole was there to steady me. We continued the shoot on the side and I think the photos turned out even better with the train zooming by in the background.

I bought this vintage dress a few weeks ago and have been waiting for a chance to wear it on my blog. You know how much I love vintage dresses with lace collars and since I'm still trying to wear softer shades, it's pastel paisley print sealed the deal. Plus, I love that it has long sleeves; it's so rare to find cute vintage dresses with long sleeves!

The Morning Hour

The Morning Hour
The Morning Hour
Cole and I took these photos yesterday morning which worked out perfectly since we're having a bit of a blizzard today! I'm having major hair woes lately. It's just so fried and funky that I can't seem to get it to cooperate. As you can see, I unsuccessfully tried to tame it and only made it look worse. Bah. Cole says my hair looks fine, but he always says that. I just hope it grows out fast!

Something completely crazy and wonderful happened to us yesterday night. We were eating at our favorite up north restaurant, Pearl's, enjoying a delicious meal when we received a little surprise. An anonymous gentleman informed the bartender, who then informed our waitress, that he would be paying for our meal! I was completely shocked and flabbergasted. Our waitress said he did this for another couple last week and at the time she didn't know who he was. She knew this time, but said he still wished to remain anonymous, so I told her to please tell him thank you so much and that this was the nicest thing to ever happen to us! What a random act of kindness! As Cole and I were leaving the restaurant we spotted two older gentlemen at the bar and guessed it had to be one of them. I wanted to run up to them and give them big hugs! Even this morning, I still can't believe it happened!

Well, we're up north at my parents' cottage. Late yesterday afternoon we decided that we wanted to get away for a bit and packed our things and left. Cole has this week off before he starts his final quarter of school, so it was a perfect time to escape. It's cold up here, but oddly enough there's less snow.

How do you like my new vintage faux fur coat? I got it a few weeks ago at my beloved SA for $7! It's in wonderful condition minus a missing button, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. I especially adore the fur pattern on the back.
