Holiday Look No.6: Floral Designs

The minute I saw this Dahlia dress on ModCloth, I just knew it had to be mine! The floral pattern and crochet collar just scream English Rose. I ordered it specifically for the wedding reception I went to last weekend and can't wait to wear it again to one of my holiday parties! So, I still haven't quite adjusted to all the snow we have here and while doing the shoot, and being my awkward self, I twisted my ankle! Nothing major, but definitely not fun.

Cole and I took these photos yesterday morning which worked out perfectly since we're having a bit of a blizzard today! I'm having major hair woes lately. It's just so fried and funky that I can't seem to get it to cooperate. As you can see, I unsuccessfully tried to tame it and only made it look worse. Bah. Cole says my hair looks fine, but he always says that. I just hope it grows out fast!

Something completely crazy and wonderful happened to us yesterday night. We were eating at our favorite up north restaurant, Pearl's, enjoying a delicious meal when we received a little surprise. An anonymous gentleman informed the bartender, who then informed our waitress, that he would be paying for our meal! I was completely shocked and flabbergasted. Our waitress said he did this for another couple last week and at the time she didn't know who he was. She knew this time, but said he still wished to remain anonymous, so I told her to please tell him thank you so much and that this was the nicest thing to ever happen to us! What a random act of kindness! As Cole and I were leaving the restaurant we spotted two older gentlemen at the bar and guessed it had to be one of them. I wanted to run up to them and give them big hugs! Even this morning, I still can't believe it happened!

ModCloth Rhythm and Boot: the Indie Look

When I was asked by the lovely people at ModCloth to sport the amazing "Today I Met the Perfect Boot" in an indie music style, I screeched with delight! At first, it was a little nerve racking trying to pull together an outfit that screamed indie, but then I realized I was being a bit ridiculous and forgetting what indie really represented. Indie, to me, means being myself and doing what I like regardless of anyone else's standards. So instead of worrying about whether or not my look would be indie enough, I decided to simply pull together my dream outfit that I would wear to one of my favorite concerts. Voilà!

Fourth of July

Fourth of July

Whew. Sorry I've been gone so long. Cole and I took a last minute trip to my parents' cottage. We arrived home late Wednesday night and I spent all day yesterday unpacking and cleaning. While the trip was a bit rushed, it was so perfectly relaxing and just what we needed...sitting by the lake, drinking cocktails, picking mini wild strawberries, eating cowboy caviar, and watching Wellie and Pip play with my parents' dog, Maisy...just what the Fourth of July should be.
