Holiday Look No.8: Bonnie Get Your Gun

Holiday Look No.8: Bonnie Get Your Gun
Well, I was going to post this later, but I just couldn't wait! Ha. This is my new favorite shoot and very Bonnie and Clyde inspired. I hope none of you are offended by the gun- it's only used for skeet shooting, hand on my heart. Anyways, I found this dress at The Salvation Army for a few bucks and fell in love. My mom says I look like my grandma when I wear it, but I don't consider that a bad thing. Grandma chic is where it's at. Ever since I bobbed my hair, I've been wanting to do a little Bonnie-esque shoot. Finding this dress just pulled it all together. Now if only I was blonde...

Cole and I just got back from this photo shoot. It was perfectly timed with the sunset- which gave everything a soft muted glow. Hey, check me out wearing sensible flats. No twisted ankles this time, although I did slip a bunch (see above photo). I just bought these vintage wingtips on Etsy and couldn't be happier. There was a decided whole in my black flats selection. What do think of my new leopard jacket? I was returning something at F21 and spotted (no pun intended) this little baby. It really satisfies my love of leopard.

The minute I saw this Dahlia dress on ModCloth, I just knew it had to be mine! The floral pattern and crochet collar just scream English Rose. I ordered it specifically for the wedding reception I went to last weekend and can't wait to wear it again to one of my holiday parties! So, I still haven't quite adjusted to all the snow we have here and while doing the shoot, and being my awkward self, I twisted my ankle! Nothing major, but definitely not fun.

It's so freezing cold outside with tons of snow that I had no choice but to do a indoor shoot. I really wish these photos did the gorgeous pieces from Carissa Rose more justice. I can't begin to tell you how excited I was when Carissa contacted me and offered two items from her latest collection! You see, Carissa makes clothes for the busty, well-endowed woman. Her styles are meant to accentuate your curves by basing the sizes on your bust and waist. Dresses and blouses are indeed the hardest things for me to find. I usually have to go up a size due to my large bust and then everything else looks baggy, or in the other extreme, I go down a size and squeeze my bust into a minimizer bra and hope that I don't pop any seams! I was nervous about the different sizing, but the pieces fit like a dream- the dress hugs in all the right places and the blouse doesn't gape one bit!

It's so fun having shoots where I'm so warm and bundled up! The only parts that froze this time around were my hands and feet. Here are a few more old pieces from my wardrobe. I bought these duck embroidered, corduroy, pants five years ago for that finance job in Andover, MA. Boy, did people stare when I wore these babies. They are part of my go-to-hell pants collection that also includes both madras and Nantucket reds. So fun. Anyone else have any wardrobe shockers that they like to wear- épater le bourgeois?

Most of the time, when I've finished assembling my outfit for a shoot I'll ask Cole "What do you think?" His response this time around, without any hesitation, was "You look like Mary Poppins" and my heartfelt reply was simply "Thank you!" It's so nice when someone truly gets you and there is no need for an explanation. As you can tell from the first few photos, this was a blustery shoot! Snow was pelting my face and my arms went numb pretty fast! Thankfully, the wind relaxed a bit and we were able to carry on. I like to think that my suffering enabled some nice photos. ;)

Well, my internet went completely dead last night which left me in a state of panic and unease! I kept dreaming that I awoke to total isolation and that my holiday look would go un-posted. Ha, I think I definitely qualify as having an internet/blogging addiction.
