CELEBRATIONS+CLICHES

As far as crappy videos go, this is one of them. I mean, I think the intro was great (did you like Kristine's sick moves?) but I don't think I did a very good job saying what I really needed to say. DUDE can we get a "but" "and" + "um" count?! I swear I'm not as lame in person.

ANYWAYS. Slightly crap video aside, I wold just like to repeat my self by saying: Yes, it's my 2nd bloggiversary, and I am ever so grateful for all the wonderful things I've accomplished, for all the cool + talented people I've had the pleasure to "meet", and of course, for all of my wonderful readers!

Reflecting on these past two years, I think the most rewarding part of it all was my personal growth. I learned so much about photography, fashion and people, but most importantly--myself. It's so cheesy, but true. I'm so much more sure of myself than I was two years ago. Had I taken a different path than the one I'm on today, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to gain the confidence to a) talk to my parents b) quit a terrible job (and be happy about it) and c) walk down any school hallway or street with my head held high. I think it's safe to say I'm more proud of all the things I've overcome myself than any lame academic achievement. Obviously getting good grades are great, but who's going to care later on in life? GRADES ARE JUST ON PAPER. MOVE ON.

Lastly, here's a timeline of my blog--a list of firsts, achievements and notables.

So I know I've introduced you to my dad earlier, but I don't think you've ever met my sister:)

Everyone meet Kristine, my twelve year-old younger sis. Yeahhhh, we don't look anything alike (she takes more after my dad) and we certainly don't have the same taste in clothes, for those of you wondering.

Introductions aside, I would like to direct you lovelies over to my TUMBLR. Yep, I broke down and finally got one! I made it about a month ago, and have been using it to post my inspirations. Really great way to finally organize the pretty pictures that have been lurking unused and unappreciated in the depths if my computer:)

Also, don't forget to drop by ILIKEITSHINY. I know I don't update my photography blog often, but it's been getting some love recently;)

Hope you all had a sweet weekend!

NEBULA

Shit, son! Just when you thought you've seen enough galaxy print on the blogosphere to last you a life time, I pull this sort of stunt, eh? Truth be told, I've never heard of nebula nails before, and naturally I was a bit skeptical when my nail art-obsessed younger sister Kristine (who is also my occasional photographer) told me she was going to give herself one of these manicures. Replicate the perfection that is outer space? Hah! Nevertheless, I was there to see her follow this tutorial and I must say I'm pretty impressed with her results.

What do you think?

TRUENORTH

Yeah, yeah, Canada Day is long gone. But that doesn't mean we have to stop being proud! Here is the most recent shoot I've done, photographed and modeled by both Kristine and myself after strawberry picking with the family a few days ago.

Please keep in mind that this shoot is not the perfect portrayal of Canada, nor the only one. I certainly tried to style it as best as I could to represent Canadian diversity from coast to coast--but of course, my closet could only give me so much to work with! So I apologize in advance if I've left out any key groups of people (which I know I have, boooo!)

CHEAPTHRILLS x MISIKKOGIVEAWAY

About a month ago, Misikko.com sent me the Hana Elite flat-iron to review. Now, I don't usually straighten my hair, but my sister is a major flat-iron junkie, so she was more than eager to try it out for me!

Here is her before and after

Kristine has curly, frizzy hair, which is also very thick and "a pain to straighten". It takes her an hour to straighten with her old iron, but with the Hana Elite, she says it only takes her about 30 mins, which she loves! She also loves how light the Hana is, and how quickly it heats up. And since it's 100% ceramic, it left her hair shiny, smooth, and healthy-looking. Now, onto the giveaway!

To enter, you must be from
CANADA or USA
(sorry international readers)

Just leave me your email address in a comment below for a chance to win!

You can also win an additional entry by:

1. Following Misikko on Twitter
2. Blogging about the giveaway on your personal website
3. Joining the Misikko Newsletter (3 extra entries)

You can also check out their Chi flat irons, Chi straighteners and professional hair dryers.

THIS CONTEST ENDS WEDNESDAY, MAY 5TH.
The winner will be randomly drawn and announced shortly.

Good luck!
