Wearing a vintage top, belt, bag and jewelry. Urban Behaviour sequined leggings and Sonia Rykiel for H&M platforms.

I didn't think it was possible to surpass the amount of excitement I had when Braden, the Creative Editor of SANDBOX magazine, first emailed me about appearing in the Fall issue, but it happened. I was thrilled at the interview, fired up at the shoot, and beyond ecstatic at the party marking the launch of their September Ambition Issue. Oh, and the party? It was half pre-party, half party-at-a-local-nightclub and definitely on a school night, way past my curfew of 7:30PM.

So how'd I managed to go to this event (part of which happened in a nightclub not for the under-aged)? Well for starters, there was no way I was about to miss out on the launch of a magzine I was featured in, especially if it was local. And second, my mom insisted on chaperoning the event. Yeah, I know. Partying with your parents gives you zero cool-kid-creds, but that was just about the only way I was about to go partying on a school night!

Anyways, it was an ace party. I am a sucker for free cheese. Ha, kidding! It was much more than that!

The pre-party was held at Connect Four in the Exchange last Thursday night. The cheese was delish, the wine was free (not that my mom let me near any), and the company was great! I brought my bff Bryce along for moral support and we had fun chatting up fellow Winnipeg bloggers Andrew and Kylie, and meeting new faces. It was fantastic to meet the various talented models, photographers and stylists who contributed to such an amazing magazine.
After the pre-party, we headed over to Mystique. The majority of us girls had a hard time tottering over to the club in massive heels, but it was funny in retrospect. There was also a bit of a mix up in terms of the minors getting in, but with my mother in tow, who needs an ID? Bryce and I didn't stay for very long, but we still had an awesome time dancing around crazily in a mostly empty (apparently, no one goes clubbing until 11PM), very foggy, laser light-y, pulsating nightclub. Perfect way to de-stress on a school night, don't you think?

Lastly, a huge thank you to Braden, Suzy and Jeff for featuring me in their magazine, and for the fun night! SANDBOX is a true gem, featuring some of the most talented, creative, hard-working geniuses from Winnipeg, and I couldn't be any more proud/honoured/thankful to have been a part of it. If you haven't had a chance to check them out yet, then what are you waiting for?! You can visit their website to read my article, and as well as their past issues (they publish online and print quarterly) or, if you're a Winnipegger, grab your own copy at any of these locations.
