you may recall that, this holiday season, i'm periodically coordinating my costumery with each of the four big pony collection scents, as part of a collaboration with ralph lauren. you've already seen sporty and seductive, and today is all about adventure ~ glamorous girl scout style!! in support of that theme, i accessorized this trench-coat/cape/caftan hybrid with a "bird-watching merit badge" and canvas camp-style belt. as we started shooting these photos, snow flurries began to fall. against the bright white backdrop, i felt as if i were foraging through an urban tundra. with that cold air all around me, the woody cologne felt enveloping and warm ~ like the after-glow of an evening fire. { lanvin for h+m sunnies, rachel rachel roy ear cuff, borrowed ralph lauren dress, lanvin brooch, f21 belt, gifted coach bag, no-name boots from 14th street } if you'd like to win this sizzling scent for yourself, leave a comment below letting me know what adventure means to you ~ in style or otherwise (incidentally, i'm pleased to announce that sauvage* is the winner** of scent number two)! bonne chance to everyone on this current go-round!!

feeling a sort of super-future, softly techno vibe with this sparkly, scuba-ready laptop-case-turned-clutch, trippy trompe l'oeil jacket and jersey jam pants. this is the sort of ensemble that could have gone really relaxed, but for a few key accessories and a razor-sharp blazer. and i couldn't resist the subtle pun in pairing this kitty print blouse with leopard spotted shoes. hear me rawrrr.
since being given the opportunity to sprinkle my costumery with pieces from erin fetherston's fall collection, is it any surprise that i've been flagrantly fixated on all her delightful bird print pieces?! seriously, it's almost obsessive ~ before today i've worn iterations of them here, here and HERE! the thing is, aside from being lovely on their own accord, they remind me of hunt slonem paintings (an artist i've long adored and have blogged about BEFORE) ~ and i think everyone should take any shot they've got to wear a work of art! meanwhile, may i just say how happy i am that this particular dress is so forgivingly cut? don't tell the turkeys, but i'm really looking forward to thanksgiving (tomorrow!) ~ the one day of the year when nobody even blinks as i inevitably go in for a third helping of mashed potatoes, followed immediately by a slice or two of sweet potato pie... ...this is one bird who may soon be too full to fly!! { lanvin for h+m sunnies (another surprise from the mister!), reworked vintage earrings, elizabeth+james blazer (i'm crazy for its super-fitted sleeves!), songbird shift dress courtesy of erin fetherston, vintage belt,juicy couture bag (last seen HERE), random thigh-highs (last seen HERE) } -----

over the course of this holiday season, i'm intermittently channeling the auras of each of the four big pony collection scents, as part of a collaboration with ralph lauren. for the first round, i was challenged to style myself sporty ~ and empowered to gift the coordinating cologne to one glamourai reader! as such, i'm pleased to announce that valerie friedrich* has won** round one ~ but it's not too late for the rest of you to get in on the action!
speaking of getting action: this week my scent's instruction was to summon seduction, to which i naturally responded with sparkle! truly, i've never met a sequin that didn't turn my head ~ now, if that's not the definition of seductive, what is?! { kelly framelearrings and ring, vintage + coach bracelets, vintage boy's blazer, gifted aryn k. sequin tank, borrowed ralph lauren sequin pants, lanvin for h+m shoes (a total surprise from my sweet boyfriend!!) }
it just so happens that i feel most alluring all covered up, with a generous splash of shimmer and a musky cloud of cologne about me. and you? let me know what you think in the comments, and you'll be entered to win scent number two ~ the duskiest, sultriest of the bunch! -----

{ the glamourai earrings (coming soon to the shop!), stephanie dress courtesy of erin fetherston, lanvin crystal & ostrich feather brooch, juicy couture ring, vintage clutch, manolo blahnik shoes, OPI's 'light my sapphire' nail polish }
last night i had a long-overdue evening out with a very good girlfriend. among other spirited spots around the city, we stopped off to celebrate the wonderfully grand reopening of lord & taylor, ate an incredible truffled sushi pizza and challenged unsuspecting acquaintances to incredibly cutthroat sessions of online scrabble. in between, i seized every available moment to twirl around or thrust myself into great gusts of wind. this dress demanded it.

iris's elements of style:
(1) never take yourself or an outfit too seriously. (2) visit the animal kingdom. (3) consider the clergy. (4) travel widely. (5) go high and low. (6) don't fret about your age. (7) don't be afraid to stop traffic.
{ reworked hat (it's made of recycled cardboard & updated with an embellished lanvin belt!), self-designed necklace, chloe blouse (last seen HERE), vintage rings + clutch, vintage + coach bracelets,F21 pants (last seen HERE) }
i actually wore this ensemble before posting this vogue editorial, and it really reinforces/reiterates why i loved that story so much. and, why i'm still on the hunt for more tailored trousers + haute hats for fall!
it's no secret that i love leopard print. i've always said that it's my favorite neutral; indeed, i believe it goes with almost anything. usually i use it as an accent, but because i felt so fierce in my leopard dress and matching coat at lady gaga's monster ball, i'm starting to think that head to toe is the way to go.
luckily, i need look no further thanlanvin's recent pre-fall 2010 collection for encouragement. inspired by 'the leopard lady' ~ a real-life parisian woman who dons these dots day and night ~ designer alber elbaz delivered a lineup of looks that had me at meow: don't you just love how the lanvin girl always looks like she shops everywhere from bergdorf goodman to goodwill?! better yet, this brand new collection feels like the flirtier, frothier sister of givenchy couture circa fall 2007: { all images via style.com }
