{ introducing } dedegumo

recently, i was introduced to a brand so special that i just had to share: dedegumo, a watch shop founded in kyoto and recently brought to new york city by a very sweet southern family.

each watch is carefully handcrafted by a highly specialized japanese artisan in the brand's orchard street store; one individual sees each watch from start to finish, and they take a lot of pride in their work. indeed, these watchmakers delight in talking you through the inspiration and history of each piece, or making any alterations your own imagination may dream up. it makes shopping for and buying a dedegumo watch a truly exceptional experience!!

dedegumo really believes in the input of their artisans, allowing them license to create whimsical, surprising, and super-chic designs (like the delightfully tiny chair, below!). no two pieces are exactly alike, and each is numbered and signed by its maker:

their wrap-around bracelets have quickly become a staple in my personal arm-party. they're the perfect addition to this summer's layered look:

because i am hosting an event with dedegumo in august, they generously let me pick out a piece of my own. i fell hard for the ruby beauty below, but had mitsue, the watch's creator, swap the red frame on its face to white, and add a crimson second-hand in place of the original black:

once each piece is finished, it's set inside a square, wooden box called a masu, then wrapped in a traditional cloth called furoshiki:

stay tuned for a detailed debut of my new beauty!! and CLICK HERE to see many more dazzling dedegumo designs.
