Gladiator Sandals

Let me introduce you to my latest obsession--the ones preventing me from getting a good night's sleep--GLADIATOR SANDALS. Yes, gladiator sandals are the cause of my insomnia. Sigh. But anywho, I am really getting to like these and I think that they will be huge in Spring (maybe even Summer if I'm lucky!). Perfect to wear with cut-off shorts, summery skirts and even denim overalls, and mark my words, these flimsy (yet structured) sandals will be in the closets of the most die-hard fashionistas this Spring.

I love the strappy ones, the thick-and-strappy ones, the high-heeled versions, and even the crazy, wacky, knee-high ones! Oh my, I can pretty much go on and on about glad.sandals, but I can also go on and on about the ones I really hate. Urgh, I really hate the ones that have a toe-thong or toe-loop. They piss me off because of the way they single out your toes. And when the Summer days get hot, I don't want my toes to be irritated by any straps!!! If I wanted that, I'd wear flip flops (which are comfier anyway). Besides, I like my toes to roam free...he he.

Here's the first set I ever made featuring gladiator [inspired sandals]. From this point on, I was hooked.

Mid-way point to becoming obsessed:

And now, fully obsessed:

I'm hoping to get a pair soon. Real soon. Make that really, really soon.

Merry Christmas!

Mom: "So, what would you like for Christmas?"
Me: "Can I have an ipod touch...pleaseeeeeee?!"
Mom: "HA! No way!"
Me: "Well, What if I pay some?"
Mom: "Uh, how about no, you are not getting an ipod touch?"
Me: "harumph."

********* At Le Chateau**********

Mom: "Wow! Check out that bag!" (points at the green bag in the window)
Me: "It's freaking HOT! Can I have it? For Christmas?"
(after asking the sales person to pry it off the mannequin)
Mom: "It's gorgeous! Do you want it? I'll get it for you for Christmas, but after that no more presents...."
Me: "I don't care! Buy it! BUY IIIIIIIITTTTT!"

*********************************

So, uh yeah. This green gorgeousity is what I got on Wednesday, my two months early christmas present. She even let me use it early, ahhhh! Said she'd re-wrap it at xmas...lol.

This is today's outfit, and I'm wearing my new favourite hat that I also got on Wednesday...at first I was going to splurge 22 bucks for the same hat at LC, but I saw a cheaper version at urban planet (of all places) and had to snatch it up. Anyway, it's my new lover....very fuzzy and I love the whole beanie/pom-pom hat hybrid. Perfect for fall winter.

Also, I got a new banner. Which is also my graphics project for typography. That's right ladies, I made the font, chose the picture and modified the banner in photoshop into oblivion. The original editorial for Numero photographed by Miles Aldridge is here.

Saturday Shopping.

I went shopping with Kaila again on Saturday. Not to value village though...more like vintage and consigment stores. It was pretty rad...this one store we went to had really friendly staff and amazing hoards of vintage rental costumes. One clerk was really particularly interested to know about our fash blogs:) Not to mention surprised when we told her we weren't in our twenties:D:D She even sold me these amazing fire engine red frames for eight bucks, which I am extremely obsessed with.

Let's just say we'll be coming back for more!

Current Obsession: Parrot Earrings

Pardon me for not posting a whole lot, but I'm reaaaaallly busy with Coco; she is a handful of a bunny!

Anyway, I posted not to tell you about my new bun, but to post about my latest obsession: parrot earrings (and other birdy stuff)! I love the vibrant colours, and the exotic vibe they give off...like the cool beads and trinkets you can find at a flea market somewhere in the Caribbean. Only thing is I don't think they'd look good on me, it might clash with my shorter (angular) hair. Please note this is the only time I'll be wishing for long, wavy beachy hair. Usually not my kinda hair, but I'll make an exception for these exotic earrings!

You bet you'll be seeing more these in my sets!

Current Obsession: Gold Bags

Lately, I've noticed how obsessed I've become of gold purses. Especially the ones with long, gold-chained straps...Oh! They're SOOOO tastefully chic, vintage and modern all at once! I am definitely mcloving the big, glittery granny ones too--perfectly boxy with their cute, short handles. And does gold not go with everything? It's so versatile and can easily transform outfits from laid back to something a little dressier.

that's what I'm talking about...

Newest Obsession: Coral

Okay, so after two days saving tons of coral jewellery into my polyvore closet and whatnot, I declare myself OFFICIALLY inlove with coral. I absolutely love the color of natural coral, the shape of the branches....the everything. It's really fresh! I also lurve the fresh combination of coral and turquoise. Even fresher! They look really good, seeing as they're complimentary colours.

The only thing I'm not sure about coral makeup--It's just not for me. I'm sure it looks fab on some people, but I'm more into berries. A good example of coral/peach makeup is here, and coral/peach makeup gone horribly wrong is here. Another thing why I'm against coral makeup is that no one was born with orange freaking lips. Or cheeks. So there.

Here's a few of my sets featuring CORAL!

Denim Cut Off Shorts

Now, I know I haven't posted for a while, but it's because I've been bombarded with tests, homework and major projects this past week. Now that it's friday, I can finally blog a lil', make some sets & reeeellllllaaaaax! So anyways, back to buisness, one of my latest obssessions are: CUT OFF DENIM SHORTS!

These babies have been haunting my daydreams for a couple of weeks now. Sometimes, my mind wanders off or whatever, and when it does, I always see myself walking down a deserted road, and it looks so hot there are heatwaves in the background. I am usually wearing some sort of vintage tee, leather jacket (in this heat?!), gladiator sandals (yumm), a black hat with a straight brim, an armful of bangles, and of course, a perfectly faded, perfectly destroyed pair of denim cut off shorts!! And honestly, though, I look so good, I can almost feel myself wearing this outfit! Sigh...

So the gist and the nub of this post is that I'm obsessed with DCOS (denim cut off shorts) and that I can't wait to get my hands on a pair. Well, I'd make my own, but I don't exactly want to destroy my jeans just yet. Besides, it would probably go horribly wrong and I'd end up making, like, a hankie or something. I think I'll wait and go scour the thrift store instead...

Also, one more thing about DCOS, they can look slutty sometimes, but thats only because some girls choose to wear low-cut tops with these teeny shorts. Too much skin just looks so unclassy, ladies. Just wear a cute Jcrew cardigan over top, it'll look so much hotter, trust me.

Man, if I had a pair, I'd never take em off. You'd have to wrestle me outta them. But anyways, here are some ways I would wear em if I DID have a pair...
