{ goldwyn girl }

loved these photographs (by tommy ton) of vintage historian/collector, writer, filmmaker and jewelry designer liz goldwyn (a multi-hyphenate after my own heart!), as seen last week on nowness.com // more HERE.

here's a little inspirational eye candy for your day, some favorite pieces & scenes i saw while in miami:

{ being } edie beale

{ photographs by mark seliger for vogue spain (october 2010) // via fashion gone rogue }

i've long been a grey gardens mega-fan, so there was no way i could let this latest edie beale-inspired editorial slide by without a post. especially with halloween coming up!! since my favorite of all holidays falls on a weekend this year, i'm brainstorming different costumes for friday, saturday and sunday. maybe little edie will be among them? at the very least, i think she'd appreciate my way around a headwrap.

PS: if by some twisted tragedy you still haven't seen the original documentary, click HERE immediately to watch it on hulu (the 'beales of grey gardens' follow-up feature is pretty major as well). enjoy!!

PPS: what are you planning to be for halloween? and am i the only one who anticipates assuming several guises over the course of the coming weekend?!

{ all images by shae acopian detar, via everything style }

shae acopian detar is a richly-talented artist, photographer, stylist, and sometimes-model who i've been running into in photo studios all over town (most recently, when we both were involved in this project). if you're not already following her blog, i suggest you skip on over and get started now!! it's constant eye-candy, all of her own creation.

{ strike a vogue }

i don't usually get all gushy over american vogue, but this month's 'society slouch' story is just so, so perfect. i had to share my favorite photos!

after years of sticking to skirts and dresses, i'm loving the look of long, lean trousers this fall (i awkwardly alluded to this in my F21 video). also looking forward to: crisp white shirts, clever doses of color, more minimalist iterations of statement jewelry (including armfuls of super-sleek bangles!), and doll-face makeup. ooh, and i'm dizzily dreaming about the most perfect embellished jacket on earth (lanvin, below):

actually, i think everything about the above look is divine. combine polka-dots and feathery embroidery with 1970's swagger and 1920's undertones, and i am ALL IN!!

what's more, i've recently decided to start growing my hair back out, which is always agonizing, unattractive, and just plain uncomfotable! so i'm taking notes on the chicest chapeau options ~ and you know i totally adore the updated edie beale-esque scarf wrap below:

{ photos by patrick demarchelier for vogue // i liked them so much i finally learned how to use my scanner! now, if that isn't true love...! }

{ joos-y couture }

did everyone catch this feature last week on nowness.com? i can't believe i'm just now getting around to blogging about it!

casting director natalie joos (whose incredibly addictive blog i'm subsequently hooked on) took model aurelie claudel and photographer martien mulder to brimfield flea market (one of my personal favorite places!!), where they skipped around for two days ~ shopping, playing dress-up and making photos. sounds (and looks) like a dream!

{ images pulled from HERE and HERE }

for more info on this thrice-yearly flea ~ and how to survive it in style ~ check out this post. see you all there in september?!?

{ cinema chic } in the mood for love

forget mad men (seriously, i tried watching sunday's new episode and was resoundingly underwhelmed)!! if you're in the market for some stylishly steamy 1960's bed-swapping sultriness, try renting wong kar-wai's classic masterpiece in the mood for love. the entirety of this stunningly-shot film reads like an fashion mag's editorial take on tom ford's fall 2004 collection for yves sant laurent. you won't be able to look away!

{ muse }

inspired by this slightly-longer-than-mine hairstyle, and the clothes are getting me seriously excited for fall. i love that dressing like a lady can be so insouciantly sexy.
