i don't usually get all gushy over american vogue, but this month's 'society slouch' story is just so, so perfect. i had to share my favorite photos!

after years of sticking to skirts and dresses, i'm loving the look of long, lean trousers this fall (i awkwardly alluded to this in my F21 video). also looking forward to: crisp white shirts, clever doses of color, more minimalist iterations of statement jewelry (including armfuls of super-sleek bangles!), and doll-face makeup. ooh, and i'm dizzily dreaming about the most perfect embellished jacket on earth (lanvin, below):

actually, i think everything about the above look is divine. combine polka-dots and feathery embroidery with 1970's swagger and 1920's undertones, and i am ALL IN!!

what's more, i've recently decided to start growing my hair back out, which is always agonizing, unattractive, and just plain uncomfotable! so i'm taking notes on the chicest chapeau options ~ and you know i totally adore the updated edie beale-esque scarf wrap below:

honestly, we're all susceptible to falling prey to fashion's fickle trends. which is fine, as long as you're able to muster enough objectivity to pick and choose which ones work for you (thus avoiding victim-hood), and to wear them in a way that's unique to you. happily, there are sometimes trends that work for everyone ~ and this season, olive green is the one!

if you think about it, olive really is the new black (as is its sister color, camel!). it's a hard-working neutral ~ universally flattering, it pairs seamlessly with nearly every color and print in your wardrobe. good thing it's everywhere right now ~ and available at every price.

personally, i've been working it into my wardrobe pretty aggressively over the past week...

...and am desperately on the hunt for that perfect militant flack jacket and sundry synced accessories. to follow, a few of the olive lovelies i've bookmarked for fall:

i always seem to slip into a fashion funk once late august rolls around. at this point, i'm so over all my summer clothes! it's too late in the season to justify buying more, but too soon to start busting out fall goodies. basically, i just want to jump straight to being able to wear thiiiis:

my friends over at coach (a much-beloved partner of this site) sent me this jacket a few weeks back ~ presumably to torture me. its leather is so perfectly buttery, its sleeves are so splendidly fitted, and it is so, so infuriatingly WARM!!

honestly, i can't remember the last time i was so anxious to wear something. and yet, the weather just won't permit it. i've tried cranking the A/C and rocking it around the house; i've tried it in movie theaters and chilly restaurants ~ but i'm not kidding anyone. its time has not yet come. so i stare at it on my bedroom mannequin, or pet it idly while watching netflix, and i dream of how happy we will be together next season.

all of the fur-pouf surprises and vintage-y jewels in the new j.crew look book have me pining extra hard for the arrival of fall. it's my favorite season to dress for! and yet there's still so long to wait.
