I don't know about you, but it disappoints more than it excites me to see a blogger's
every post to be about their "latest purchase"(and designer purchases at that). Before you roll your eyes and call me jealous, think about it. First of all, how unrealistic is buying something worth a couple (or maybe several) hundred dollars on a regular basis?! Yes, I agree that people who work very hard for their money have every right to spend it as they wish, but the average person has more important priorities other than play the "who can wear it first" game. Second, doesn't seeing a blogger consistently wear new purchases on every post just feed the stigma that bloggers are
just another part of the problem--the problem called consumerism and excess? Lastly, isn't it a little boring to visit a blog and already know that you'll be seeing a head-to-toe outfit of the latest it-items everyone's been talking about (but haven't gotten their hands on yet)?
Personally, I'd rather see someone wear their favourite items in a multitude of ways with clothes that they already have, than full outfits of brand new things. Because if I wanted to see someone wear next season's Alexander Wang on Prada on Proenza Schouler, I would flip open a goddamn
Vogue! Creativity is not always creating something new, sometimes it's finding a way to make something old into something new again.
Rant over. Now excuse me while I wear these shoes over and over again because they're awesome and also because I want to revel in the fleeting moment that is summer before fall hits, and my feet don't see the light of day for at least six months...
PS. Silly me, I forgot to pick and post up the winner of the
Chains of Love contest in my latest post! The winner by random draw is Colleen Simard, congrats! I'll email you shortly with the details.
Wearing vintage blazer, Jacob top, vintage leather shorts, clutch and belt, eBay fox tail, F21 necklace and BCBGeneration shoes.
