GUESSWHO'SBACK

Freaking out at the beauty of Versailles. Wearing a thrifted Metallica tee, thrifted GUESS jeans and GAP vest, vintage combats, and Nine West bag,
Oh my god, my Europe trip was beyond fantastic! Call me out on all the clichés, but it was definitely THE time of my life. There were so many great places I got to visit, so many beautiful things I got to see...It was pretty much unreal. I ended up with over 1500 pictures (cringing at the thought of going through them all), enough memories to overfill a pensieve, and of course--lots of new playthings;)

But before you jump the link and skip to the pictures, you should know it's a picture OVERLOAD...and this post only covers the first three days of the trip, which is kind of ridiculous.
But, you did say you wanted loads of pictures, and since I don't want to skip out on any details, I've decided to cover the trip in four posts.

So by the end of next week you'll either really want to go to France and Italy or be really, really sick of it.

BUT DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!

DAY 1 MONTREAL AND PARIS

After a boring 9hr lay-over in Montreal (in which our group was taken on a walking/bus tour of the city despite the freezing rain), it was back on the plane for another 6-7hrs, where I inevitably had a really bad sleep and woke up looking like crap, but anyways...

The first thing after arriving in Paris, was go down to the metro and take a train to the Louvre Museum, where we spent a few hours checking out at all the hot French boys walking by--wait, I mean--checking out the all the beautiful works of art! After that we went to see the Notre Dame Cathedral, another great place to look for cute guys--er, look at the amazing stained glass windows! Which was OK...I mean, I'm not a huge fan of churches. I had more fun people and pigeon watching.

Later, we had dinner at this quaint little place, and I think chicken, fries and gravy were on our menu. Uhhhhm. I was never a fan of that combination at home, and I wasn't about to be a fan then. Let's just say dinner was a FAIL. I was expecting something way more...um, culturally different.

Anyhow, the most "exciting" part of the day was later that night, when we went to go see the Eiffel Tower, which to be honest, I actually ended up not liking, because of the following factors:

*We were all tired as hell and running on three hours of sleep
*We had to stand in line for TWO FREAKING HOURS (although we had reservations)
*We we in front of this really loud group of Irish students
*We were behind a group of annoying French girls who smoked, like, four packs of cigarettes into our faces
*AND some very inconsiderate people in our group made us all wait an extra 30mins and we ended up not going to our hotel until very, very late.

But was the it all worth it?!

HELL NO. I'm sorry, but when you're that tired and ready to pass out, even something as epic as the Eiffel tower can do little to make you less of a grumpy bitch! I was about ready to push someone off the tower by the time I reached the top--and yeah, the view was amazing--but I was way too exhausted and pissed off to appreciate it. I think next time the tour company should just skip the Eiffel tower on the first night. I definitely would have "cherished the monent" more if we had done it on another night...

Outfit day one! Wearing a vintage safari animal-print shirt and purple leggings, thrifted denim vest and beret, Nine West bag, GAP kids jacket and converse shoes.
A great shot of my friend Janine on the train.
DAY 2 PARIS

The next day, we walked around in a garden with gold tipped gates, looked at fancy bridges and the Arc de Triomphe before we headed to Versailles.

Ah, it was absolutely beautiful! I had fallen in love with Versailles ever since I saw Marie Antoinette, so seeing the palace in person was a dream! The garden was amazing as well...Plenty of photoshoot opportunities:)
After a lengthy afternoon in Versailles, we headed back to Paris for "free time".

HOWEVER. Free time was not as amazing as we thought it would be--the adults on the trip gave us ONE HOUR!!! How is that possibly enough time to shop in freaking Paris, of all places?! I ended up not buying anything in Paris, and the worst part is that it rained really hard too...we ended up hiding in a Disney store for twenty minutes while it rained so hard, it blew the huge glass doors open!

The weather calmed down eventually, and in the evening we went on a Seine River boat tour of the city. It was pretty fucking magical, let me tell you. If I had had any previous doubts on whether or not I was indeed on another continent, then this boat ride certainly squashed them FLAT. Seeing the city lights sparkle and the Eiffel tower in the background certainly made it seem much more real. It was a perfect way to end our last night in Paris.

God, this is so cheesy and Titanic-y, I love it!
DAY 3 NICE

The next city we visited was Nice, France. To reach Nice, we had to take the TGV (or maybe it had another name) for about six hours. We were basically stuck inside a train moving about 300-something kilometers an hour through the French country side...pretty sweet.
Relaxing, too. I had a really good nap and some nice pictures of scenery at the end of it. I don't think I had any outfit pictures of this day though, because I looked like a slob (as would you if you were traveling for half the day) and was mostly attempting to read Vogue Paris, so it wasn't very exciting.

After dinner, we went out for a lovely night walk along the beach.
